Watch the GOP blow this

Wednesday morning, the Census released important data on 2014.  The numbers are really bad: Household income was "not significantly different" from 2013, they report, but was actually down by 1.5% in 2014 compared to 2013.  Overall, median household income in 2014 was 6.5% lower than 2007. The poverty rate in 2014 was 14.8%; this is to say that 14.8% people in the United States lived in poverty in 2014.  This is worse than any year under Bush, including OMG-the-world-is-collapsing 2008. The uninsured rate, the percentage of Americans without health insurance, dropped from 13.3% in 2013 to 10.4% in 2014.  The White House and Democrats credit Obamacare, but 7.56 million more people in 2014 than 2013 bought private health plans, while 6.73 million signed up for Medicaid in the same year.  Essentially, half of those newly insured in 2014 did so via the Medicaid expansion, which I support, but expanding Medicaid would fit onto a one-page...(Read Full Post)
