Marines on alert as Egypt ready to explode

The Egyptian opposition to the US-backed Muslim Brotherhood government of President Morsi have scheduled a massive demonstration for Sunday that has the potential to turn violent. Because of President Obama's embrace of the unpopular Morsi, many Egyptians see the US as an enabler of the regime. That could mean that violence might be directed against American diplomats and private citizens. For that reason, Marines stationed in Southern Europe have been placed on alert. CNN: U.S. Marines stationed in southern Europe have been put on alert as a precaution in advance of expected large demonstrations and potential unrest in Egypt this weekend, CNN has learned. About 200 combat capable Marines in Sigonella, Italy, and Moron, Spain, have been told to be ready to be airborne within 60 minutes of getting orders to deploy, according to two administration officials.
