Drone strike may have killed Haqqani leader

Pakistani military officials are saying that a CIA drone strike earlier this week killed a leading figure in the Haqqani network. Badruddin Haqqani, head of the group's smuggling operations, may have been taken out when the car he was riding in was hit with a missile. Reuters: A CIA drone strike in Pakistan may have killed the operational commander of the Haqqani network, the insurgent group behind some of the most high-profile attacks on Western and Afghan government targets in Afghanistan, Pakistani intelligence officials and militant sources said on Saturday.
