Back in 2016, when Donald J. Trump won the presidency with a majority of the Electoral College and a minority of the popular vote, his big electoral problem was the suburban white women who couldn’t vote for a man who boasted about women allowing him to feel them up. Trump was universally agreed to be a crass, crude businessman from Queens, not quite out of the top drawer. Today, the suburban white women of my acquaintance still don’t like him, but they are going to vote for him. I wonder why?
