October 7, 2010 Oil spill cover-up confirmed
The White House deliberately downplayed the seriousness of the Gulf oil spill and this contributed to slower and less efficient clean up efforts as well as unnecessary friction with state and local governments.
These are the findings of the government's own commission on the spill: The Obama administration failed to act upon or fully inform the public of its own worst-case estimates of the amount of oil gushing from the blown-out BP well, slowing response efforts and keeping the American people in the dark for weeks about the size of the disaster, according to preliminary reports from the presidential commission investigating the accident."[T]he federal government created the impression that it was either not fully competent to handle the spill or not fully candid with the American people about the scope of the problem." Incompetent liars. That's the bottom line. And I wonder what these commissions are going to say about the administration preventing the press from observing clean up efforts? If the GOP takes the House, this will be a very interesting investigation. |
