Blue Dog Bail-Out?

Roll out the GOP red carpet, the Blue Dogs are coming!

Freshman Congressman Parker Griffith of Alabama, who is also a doctor, is switching parties from Democrat to Republican according to Politico.com:

A radiation oncologist who founded a cancer treatment center, Griffith plans to blast the Democratic health care bill as a prime reason for his decision to switch parties—and is expected to cite his medical background as his authority on the subject.

From The Hill.com:

This month he (Griffith) voted against the Democrats' bills on financial regulatory reform and the estate tax, as well as the omnibus. He was one of four Democrats to oppose healthcare reform, climate change and the stimulus package. The others were Reps. Bobby Bright (Ala.), Walt Minnick (Idaho) and Gene Taylor (Miss.).

Griffith said in August that he would not back Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for House Speaker again because she is too divisive.

There is already Republican “swarm” in the districts of four other Democratic Congressmen who are choosing to "retire":  Rep. Dennis Moore (Kan.), Rep.Brian Baird (Wash.),Rep. John Tanner (Tenn.) and Rep.Bart Gordon (Tenn.).

Small steps.
