August 20, 2009 British Muslims celebrate Taliban 'heroes'
Nothing new in this, of course, except perhaps the timing of these celebratory messages on websites that are cheering the death of British soldiers who were ambushed in Afghanistan's Helmand province on Sunday.
Padraic Flanagan and John Ingham of the Daily Express have the sickening details: The gloating jihadi website, Islamic Awakening, is a forum for Islamic extremism, prompting a slew of vile attacks on the efforts of British troops to rescue Afghanistan from the grip of fundamentalists. In a related story, a Washington Post-ABC poll shows that 51% of Americans now believe the war in Afghanistan is not worth fighting. Nearly 7 in 10 Democrats believe that while only 1 in 5 Democrats support their own president's plan to increase troop strength. President Obama will have to rely on Republicans (70% of GOP say the war is worth fighting) to carry on in Afghanistan. |
