Deification of Obama in Europe

Rick Moran
It's bad enough we have our own Obama worshippers here in the United States. But when Europeans catch the Obama bug, Americans who are thinking of voting for him should look long and hard at why the Continent is so much in thrall to the Democrat:

Spend a few days in western Europe talking about American politics and you discover that you are in deepest Obamaland. Not much different from Berkeley, California, or the South Side of Chicago.

As a woman put it to me in Paris: "We want America back.''

"Why does that mean Obama?'' I asked her. Her response: "We think he's the black Kennedy.''

What's driving Obama frenzy in Europe? Is it ideology? The educated, well-informed Europeans I met were not entirely sure what Obama stood for. "Is he a socialist?'' they asked. "I don't think he would accept that label,'' I told them.

They worried a little bit about Obama's views on trade. "Is he a protectionist?'' they wondered. "He calls himself a free trader,'' I said, "just like John McCain, although he has been more critical of trade agreements like NAFTA.''

Europeans are not especially anti-McCain. I asked my British informant what kind of response McCain drew when he visited London. "Nothing,'' he responded. "We see McCain as another old man. Just like our politicians.''

Europeans believe their politics has become old, tired, unexciting. Which is, fairly or unfairly, their image of McCain.

To his European fans, Obama is the symbol of American renewal. They know three things about him. That he is young. That he is African-American. And that he has a Muslim name.

It appears our European cousins are even more superficial than we are. And when Europeans talk about wanting America "back" what they mean is they want America to be subservient to them, to just have us step aside and let them run the world. This is especially true in France who fondly recall JFK getting boxed around by DeGaulle over nukes, NATO, and Africa.

The myth that Bush has gone off on his own and practices "Cowboy diplomacy" is well entrenched now thanks to a leftist European press who never gets around to reporting all of the issues that GWB and our European allies are cooperating over. Afganistan is a NATO operation. Our cooperation over sharing intelligence on terror cells and suspects is outstanding. On Iran, we have pushed Germany, France, and Great Britain to the forefront of negotiations over nukes. On AIDS in Africa, Darfur, the Congo, North Korea, Somalia, nuclear proliferation - all of those issues, the US under Bush has sought to involve our allies and the United Nation. Even climate change has seen the president alter his position so that it mirrors the European efforts.

What the hell are these people's beef? They don't have a legitmate one. But when you are fed a steady diet of big bad America running off half cocked on its own with no regard for international cooperation, you get an ignorant population with no knowledge of the reality of the situation.

Wake up you numbskulls! You have been bamboozled and are too lazy to figure out for yourselves you've been had. Obama will be worse than Carter. And you remember how much you loved and respected the peanut farmer, right?

I swear by the time the press is through with Obama, he will be able to run for God.

Amazing how so many are superficial. Not one Obama supporter I have spoken with cares not knows any of his policies. Simply we need change.
OK Amerika, get ready for change.

Last week, while entering the security line at Los Angeles airport, a guy behind me was wearing a t-shirt with a big picture of Obama. And then a security person said to him, "He will win. I really hope." And he added, "We need change".

Bingo! The magic word.

I don't know what these people mean by change. But their view of change is very likely different from that of Obama.

I think the biggest challenge of McCain and the Republican is to debunk the Obama's "change" slogan.

I read an excellent analysis of this "change" from Dennis Praeger at Townhall weeks ago. But one article is not enough. There has to be an aggresive effort to scrutinize and debunk the "change we can believe in". And that should be started before the convention, because once the mass people are seduced to euphoria of change, nothing can stop them in November to vote for the most unknown and the emptiest suit ever to run for the White House.

Rick,
Go to Spiegel International edition and scroll down to the Obama articles. He who has ignored Europe completely now wants the Germans to let him give a speech at the Brandenburg Gate. I am not aware of this being done for candidates, but it shows how high Obama aims.

Thank GOD my ancesters left Britain two hundred and fifty years ago.Americans have had the oportunity to think and speak for themselves. Most of us still do,and we don't want Barak Hussein Obama.

At present time I am living in Germany, and a few weeks ago the topic of who will be the next President came up in my German language class. Out of the 20 different nations represent all but Myself (Arizonan) and a girl from Iraq were for John McCain. When I asked why they liked Obama so much the answer was that he was a "Good Man" and that he was going to "Give us money". I wish I were joking.

So Europeans want us to step aside so they can rule the world?
Careful what you wish for!
Lucky for them I'll never hold public office because I would say: have at it! Let us bring our soldiers home from all corners and let Europe run the world. We'll watch how it's done and see if you've learned anything since 1945. We'll get to see how you respond to the next crisis in Africa or Asia or Albania. Thanks to C-SPAN and the BBC, we can watch the British Parliament in action. In the meantime, we'll save a heck of a lot of money that would otherwise have been spent defending your ungrateful butts. Our only price: get the UN off our soil. We intend to raze that ugly tower and put up a brand new complex for the benefit of AMERICANS.
Parisians think they live at the center of the world. The UN is theirs.
As for Obama - Europeans all but deified Bill Clinton. As a result, we got oil-for-food. What's next? Oil-for-fools? Being worshipped by Europeans is not something Obama should crave. It's worth nothing.

OK, can we say it finally...Europeans are morons!
At least the ones that are still there anyway. The smart ones have all come over here.

Run for god? Is he not the Obamessiah? That means he's co-equal with god, is god himself.

There's a pretty simple explanation for this and the author touches on it saying "when Europeans talk about wanting America "back" what they mean is they want America to be subservient to them." Fact is, Europe still has a giant musket ball up their butt because 200 years ago we said Europe's policies aren't for us. Liberals should remember that and stop trying to emulate the EU's socialist agenda.

The joke went around the office last week. Obama was elected President. The next morning, the world discovered that George and Laura Bush, 80 Million Republicans, the 3% of Democrats that are self-described "born-again Christians" and an uncertain number of independents were missing.

I'm a loss in comprehending Europe's collective brain death.

What is it with their fascination of Trojan Horses? First Islam, now Obamamania. It's like they have death wish.
I hope they get well soon. But it's starting to look terminal.
