Apparently, Kamala Harris wasn't the only ambitious and comely San Francisco female pol who "dated" a San Francisco political pooh-bah to advance her career.

Harris dated San Francisco mayor Willie Brown.  Now San Francisco mayor London Breed says she dated Mohammed Nuru, San Francisco's entrenched director of public works (famous for its "poop patrols"), taking a $5,600 "gift" from him and "forgetting" to disclose it.  She wrote about the whole thing in a "spirit of transparency" for Medium, cited here by SFGate.com:

"We dated for a brief time, two decades ago, long before I ever ran for office," wrote Breed, who was sworn in as mayor in July 2018. "Nevertheless, he, and his now-adult daughters, have remained close friends for all those years."

Nuru's now under indictment for kickbacks, pay to play, bribery, wire fraud, and use of public services for private gain in what's called San Francisco's biggest political scandal in years.  Oh, and the streets of San Francisco have gone to hell on his watch.

The pair have known each other, apparently intimately, for 20 years.  And Nuru is a very powerful, entrenched fixture on the scene in San Francisco politics.

Tim Redmond, a lefty fixture on the San Francisco scene since his days at the Bay Guardian, says it looks illegal.

The mayor of San Francisco is paid almost $300,000 a year. And she couldn't afford to pay for the repairs to her car, or for her own rental car, or to reimburse Nuru after he paid for those things? She still hasn't paid him back?

Why did the mayor have someone who is, for all practical purposes, a direct subordinate, take her car to be fixed?

The San Francisco Chronicle put out an editorial blasting just how corrupt it was, saying it looked like a lot more than a "lapse of judgment."

It kind of tells you how things go in the wokest American cities for women.  Sleep with the right guy, get yourself catapulted to the top.  Casting couch politics, not too different from how Harvey Weinstein ran things in Hollywood.  And somehow this happens most significantly in places of purest blue.

When Breed was elected mayor in 2018, I was struck by how lightweight her résumé was.  The newspapers said it was because she was black and her election was therefore "historic."  Blacks have been chased out of the city by high rents, so the whole thing had a whiff of tokenism.  Rich whiteys elect a black woman mayor and then pat themselves on the back for how woke they are.

Now it looks as if there was a lot more to this than just San Franciscans dropping their racist fetters, taking off their Klan hoods, dropping the Bull Connor love, and voting for a black woman for mayor, as the narrative went.

It's ridiculous, really.  Politicians in a solid blue city such as San Francisco get elected by performing favors, with apparently some of these favors have nothing to do with politics, just lefty morals.  Breed's biography on Wikipedia shows she got her start in politics working as an intern for Willie Brown, so maybe some other questions can be raised about how she got where she got, given Brown's proclivities.  Brown is the one who "made" Kamala Harris.

Breed made the confession herself, pre-emptively, just as the IRS's Lois Lerner disclosed her repression of dissidents before her, as if she knew that something was coming down the pipe and there'd be criticism coming, disclosing her act for Medium.

It was a signal that something deeper and more disgusting was going on, the disclosure being really just a bid for spin control to conceal much worse now that Nuru is going down.

That's what it looks like here.  Typically, when a big kingpin goes down in a corruption case, a host of little kingpins go down with them.  One wonders if that's going to be the case with London Breed, too.

This is the basic blue-city politics Democrats would like to export to all America.
