Ilhan Omar is finally getting the scrutiny she deserves for possible illegal acts

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Somalia) exploded on the national political scene in 2018, when she ran for and won a seat in the House of Representatives.  Born in Somalia, she and her family had escaped that war-torn country when she was a small child and spent four years in a refugee camp in Kenya.  Omar came to America in 1992, when she was 10. Omar was a perfect candidate to take over the seat that Keith Ellison vacated when he moved on to become deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee.  As was Ellison, Omar is a Muslim representing Minnesota's 5th congressional district — that is, Minneapolis and some suburbs — an area that is politically Progressive and that has a large Muslim population.
