If you are 100% certain that Jeffrey Epstein killed himself, then you will be delighted by the appointment of David Kris to oversee a review of the FBI's practices in seeking FISA Court approval of its applications to spy on American citizens.  The rest of us must conclude that the fix, once again, as so often with the Deep State, is in.

David Kris is the last person in the world to fairly investigate mis- and malfeasance in the safeguarding of the rights of citizens when secret courts are asked to approve secret spying on them.  Mollie Hemingway calls him a "FISA abuse denier."

Kris, who served as assistant attorney general for the DOJ's National Security Division, recently claimed the IG report that catalogued egregious abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) powers actually vindicated the FBI. He also smeared Rep. Devin Nunes in 2018, saying his initial sounding of the alarm about those abuses was incorrect, threatened national security, and should be harshly punished.

Kris appeared in locations that pushed the false Russia collusion narrative, such as Rachel Maddow's MSNBC show, the Lawfare blog, and Twitter, to defend the FBI and attack President Trump and other critics of the harmful surveillance campaign. He once wrote that Trump "should be worried" that Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into treasonous collusion with Russia meant "the walls are closing in."

Here is Kris boasting about an appearance with Maddow a year and a half ago:

And here he is claiming that the Mueller investigation would indict President Trump:

There is plenty more demonstrating that Kris is highly partisan; a Trump-hater; and, as part of the Lawfare blog, a strategist for the efforts to remove Trump from office.

D.C. super-lawyer and deep student of Deep State corruption Joe DiGenova called the appointment of Kris "spitting in the face of President Trump" this morning in an appearance on WMAL radio's Morning on the Mall show.

So what kind of federal judge would appoint such a partisan hack to "spit in the face" of President Trump?

You might well guess that the judge in question is an Obama appointee.  If so, pat yourself on the back, and take a look at Judge James Emanuel ("Jeb") Boasberg, appointed to the D.C. Federal District Court in 2010 by Obama, and then appointed to the FISA Court by Chief Justice Roberts in 2014.

On January 1, 2020, Judge Boasberg became the presiding judge for the FISA Court, and he appointed Kris to this ultra-sensitive post a week and half later.  President Trump expressed his dismay:

Judge Boasberg is no stranger to politically connected elites.  He graduated from Yale University, where he was a member of the secret society Skull & Bones, which boasts many politically prominent alumni, including both major presidential candidates in 2004, George W. Bush and John F. Kerry.  He went on to Oxford University and Yale Law School.

Joe DiGenova suggests that Senator Lindsey Graham call Judge Boasberg to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee to explain this outrage.  Now, I'd call that must-see TV.
