Since when is ‘Alexandria’ an authentic Spanish name?

Oh, my.

Our phony Flamenco dancer in Congress is now telling us all about her name, allegedly part of “Latinx culture”.

But Google does not show "Alexandria" as a female first name. It shows "Alexandria" (with an "i") as a city in Egypt, with imitations appearing in places like Virginia.

YouTube screen grab

In Latin-based languages this would have been obvious, since everybody knew about Alexander the Great, who named Egypt's Alexandria by conquering it and naming it after himself, in the usual fashion. By killing lots and lots of people. Ocasio-Cortez, if that is her real name, commemorates two great (male) killers, Alexander of Macedonia and Cortez.

My Spanish dictionary does not show "Alexandria" as a first name. It shows Alexander, Alessandra, and Allejandra but not Alexandria. This is a made-up word, and in people who speak those languages it would be a pun or a joke.  Ask any illegal immigrant from south of the border if "Alexandria" is a girl's name. It's not.

It's like calling your daughter "New York City," or "The Bronx". Or, as the Clintons did, inspired by the lyrics of a Judy Collins song, to the amusement of the Brits, it's like naming a baby girl "Chelsea," a London neighborhood.  Nobody ever called the Clintons on that farcical name, and they got away with it.

Will Sandy get away with her con job?

She will in the PC media.
