The National Basketball Association announced that it will not play the 2017 All Star game in Charlotte, N.C. because of the LGBT bill passed earlier this year. No alternate site for the game has been announced. The NBA's action follows the decisions by several large corporations and well known entertainers to boycott North Carolina because of the bathroom bill. Reuters: "While we recognize that the NBA cannot choose the law in every city, state, and country in which we do business, we do not believe we can successfully host our All-Star festivities in Charlotte in the climate created by HB2," the league said in a statement. The NBA also said a new location for next year's All-Star Game will be made in the coming weeks. The exhibition, which generates millions of dollars in economic activity, could be rescheduled for Charlotte in 2019 if there is an "appropriate resolution to this matter."
