US government placing unaccompanied children into the care of criminals

A whistleblower told the Senate Judiciary Committee that the United States government is placing unaccompanied children (UAC) intercepted at the border into the care of criminals.  According to the whistleblower at least 3,400 of the 29,000 sponsors (11%) have criminal convictions including burglary, drug dealing, homicide, sex trafficking, and human smuggling, among countless other convictions.  A nice example of the reliability of "vetting" by the feds.

How does this happen? Here’s how, per a Breitbart report:

When children from noncontiguous countries are apprehended illegally entering the U.S. at the border, they are turned over to the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), which then places the children with family members or other guardians in the U.S. while they await immigration hearing.

“However, according to a whistleblower familiar with the process, often these background checks are not thoroughly performed and sponsors are not properly vetted or even fingerprinted,” Grassley and Cornyn wrote in their letter this week. “Internal ORR protocols require the screening of sponsors for exploitation, abuse, trafficking, or other safety concerns, yet allegedly, proper screening is not taking place and children are paying the price.”

While the pair of lawmakers say the whistleblower told supervisors of the criminal record concerns in August, “These individuals have no immediate plans to remove UACs from their criminal sponsors, but are ‘discussing options.’”

What a mess!  And all preventable if we would just secure our border for God’s sake.
