In New York, men can be arrested for rape if women don't say 'I want sex!'
New York State passed a law requiring women to affirmatively say they want sex before sleeping with men (or, I guess, other women?). If they don't, and they later decide they didn't enjoy the sex, they can have the man arrested for rape. This is what Columbia University's Mattress Girl tried to do. Several months after having anal sex, she decided she didn't enjoy it (I personally would have decided that much more quickly), and she tried to get her sexual partner arrested for rape. When the police laughed her off, she started carrying around a mattress and making porn videos in protest.
With all the murder and armed robbery on the streets of New York City, you would think other things would be higher in priority. Rape on campuses, by and large, exists to a small degree and is a largely exaggerated problem. I think a woman walking around the Columbia University campus is about a hundred times safer than a woman walking on the streets of Morningside Heights. But all this is part of liberals' attempts to keep women engaged and energized so they will vote Democrat. While they pass meaningless legislation that won't help anyone, women continue to get killed by illegal aliens, have their health insurance costs skyrocket, face an economy crushed by unsustainable debt, and find men in their locker rooms with hairy legs wearing tutus.
How realistic is it to expect a woman to always say, "I want to have sex with you!" before sex? How unromantic is it to have to ask, "You know, Honey, before I take off your pants, Andrew Cuomo requires me to ask you – are you okay if I have sexual intercourse with you in the next few minutes?" The fact is that while many women want it, many are equally awkward about such direct questions. It's easy to tell if a woman doesn't want to have sex; they say things like "no" or "stop" or "I have a headache" or "I have to get ready for the Hillary rally tomorrow." Women don't simply lie there like a lox just having things done to them they don't want. They're not under anesthesia like during a surgical procedure or on a date with Bill Cosby.
Besides, even if a woman says "yes" if directly asked about sex, it's meaningless, because it's an oral contract. There's no way to verify whether she actually said yes or not. That's why lawyers require written contracts. Maybe a woman should have to sign a release before a man can get his release. To make it super-official, maybe there should be a witness. In threesomes and voyeuristic situations there are already witnesses, so that shouldn't always be a problem.
This is just part of the Democrats' continuing attempt to pander to women. But as long as no one calls them on their bogus efforts, they will continue to treat women as little more than a "panties constituency."
