Like black goo dripping out of a Ghostbusters ghost trap, this insidious bias has infiltrated what should be the purely science section of the New York Times, leading to a breathless announcement on the NYT homepage that female chimpanzees are seriously underrated.

Studies of hunters and gatherers — and of chimpanzees, which are often used as stand-ins for human ancestors — have cast bigger, faster and more powerful males in the hunter role.

Sexist researchers!  Or sexist chimps.  Or both!

Now, a 10-year study of chimpanzees in Senegal shows females playing an unexpectedly big role in hunting and males, surprisingly, letting smaller and weaker hunters keep their prey.

Not only do they pull their own weight, but females show more compassion than the males!

It also clearly shows “the females are more involved than in other places,” he said, adding that it provides new evidence to already documented observations that female chimps are “much more avid tool users than males are.”

Women = superior, the NYT not so subtly says.

Early hominins may have been in a similar situation, he said. Hunting among human ancestors “very quickly became a male-dominated activity,” he said, but “female hominins could very well have been the inventors of weapons.”

"Could very well have been"?  I don't think there's any doubt.  Females invented all weapons!  Wait.  Aren't weapons bad?  I'm worried that this propaganda might cut both ways!

Can you imagine what drove such research?  Can you imagine how the search for gender superiority twists what should be normal research from more serious scholarly investigations?

Anyway, these liberal newspaper writers are so dripping with bile that they have to find a way to cast every article about race, sex, or homosexuality.
