Is it racist when white cop shoots violent black who is high as a kite?

An allegedly violent man who was also allegedly high on drugs, named Tony Robinson, was shot and killed by a policeman.  Unlike the roughly 7,500 blacks who are killed each year by other blacks (93% of black murder victims are killed by other black people), this incident is sure to get attention because the policeman who did the shooting was white.

Vox has a photo of the victim, Tony Robinson, in the now standard uniform for such photos: his high school graduation outfit.

Police responded to a call about a man jumping around traffic at about 6:30 pm on Friday, Madison Police Chief Mike Koval told the Associated Press. A second call suggested the man was "responsible for a battery." Kenny followed the suspect to an apartment, heard a disturbance, and forced his way inside. In the apartment, Robinson allegedly assaulted Kenny, and the officer shot and killed the 19-year-old, claiming self-defense.

An investigation by the Guardian found Robinson had taken magic mushrooms hours before the shooting, and at least one of the 911 calls was made by a friend who was concerned about Robinson's erratic behavior.

Robinson was sentenced to three years' probation in December for an armed robbery, according to court documents reported by the AP. A group of five, including Robinson, allegedly broke into an apartment in April 2014 in hopes of finding marijuana and money. Robinson told investigators he carried a BB gun during the robbery, and stole a TV and Xbox 360.

The rest of the very long Vox article talks about statistics showing that blacks are more likely to be in jail, that blacks are more likely to be shot by police, etc., without being bothered to examine questions like "who resists the police more during arrests?" and "are people committing crimes disproportionately unrepresentative of the racial population of Wisconsin?"  The very long Vox article doesn't find space or time to look into these issues.

Here's more from The Guardian about the magic mushrooms:

Earlier in the day Robinson had been out with a small group and had eaten magic mushrooms, according to a friend who was present at the time. The friend, who had known Robinson for five years and whom the Guardian has chosen not to identify, said Robinson was inexperienced with hallucinogens and had consumed a large quantity. According to radio audio posted online in the days after the incident, the first 911 call came in around 6.30pm. The police dispatcher describes Robinson as “yelling and jumping in front of cars”, later adding: “Tony hit one of his friends ... no weapons seen.” It is unclear if the audio has been edited, but it appears that two further 911 calls were made reporting an assault within the two subsequent minutes. An anonymous witness has since come forward to local TV news alleging he had been punched by Robinson outside a restaurant opposite the apartment.

So the police hear reports about a violent person.  Robinson was obviously out of control.  It's alleged he attacked the police officer.  The officer may not have had time to subdue him, and had to resort to deadly force.

If these facts are true, Robinson killed himself.

The liberal media always like to write articles about how minority parents have to warn their children to take special care around police to avoid getting shot.  Here are two big tips they can pass on:

1) Don't take illegal drugs that make you violent and/or lose your mind.

2) Don't attack police officers.

I think white people who violate rules #1 and #2 get shot by police, too – it's just not what the media chooses to write about.
