Obama's 911 Tweet: Wrong picture. Wrong word.

The president marked the anniversary or 9/11 with a tweet that featured a photograph of him standing with four other people, Obama facing the camera. And a two word message:  America endures.

That Obama would make himself the subject of the anniversary of two terror attacks against American is nothing new. We know the man-child is self-absorbed.

As for the message, I found it strangely honest in that I would guess it is precisely how Obama sees America. He has demoted us to a nation that “endures.”

Per the Merriam-Webster dictionary, this is the definition of endure:

to continue to exist in the same state or condition

to experience (pain or suffering) for a long time

to deal with or accept (something unpleasant)

Dictionary.com defines it this way:

to hold out against; sustain without impairment or yielding; undergo

to bear without resistance or with patience; tolerate

to admit of; allow; bear

to continue to exist; last

to support adverse force or influence of any kind; suffer without yielding; suffer patiently

So now, our once great nation continues to “exist.” We “bear without resistance.” We “suffer patiently.”

Endure has nothing to do with exceptionalism. Nothing to do with victory. Nothing to do with crushing one’s enemies. Endure is what victims do. It is a place of few, if any, choices, as when one is a prisoner of war. And in a way, symbolically, isn’t that what we’ve become under Obama as we have no national security strategy to keep Americans safe while jihadists gain ground, slaughter tens of thousands, and threaten our nation?

Endure is what we have done for six years under this president. But it is not who we are as a people. We are better than that. Much better. Even if Obama is determined to drag us down.
