Donna Brazile and the caliphate

Donna Brazile was the campaign manager for former Vice President Al Gore. A seasoned Democratic political strategist, she played a key role in every presidential campaign for 25 consecutive years through the year 2000.

Brazile is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University, a regular contributor to major network news shows, a best-selling author, and a syndicated columnist. She is the Vice Chair of Voter Registration and Participation at the DNC. Before serving in this role, she chaired the DNC Voting Right’s Institute. She has been honored by several organizations for her achievements, has been awarded honorary doctorate degrees from several universities, and has lectured at over 125 colleges and universities. Currently, Brazile serves as the founder and managing director of Brazile & Associates LLC, based in Washington, D.C. and is on the board of several national organizations. Per the about page on her web site: “Her secret passion is acting…Ask her and she’ll tell you that acting, after all, is the key to success in politics.”

And yet for all that, she had no idea what “caliphate” meant when appearing on This Week with George Stephanopoulos where she had to ask fellow panelist, Bill Kristol, what it was.

So much for her credentials and even her love of acting. Then again, I suppose it would be difficult to fudge it too much on national television when discussing a topic where you lack even a single molecule of knowledge.

Still, progressives do it all the time.

Must have been an off day for Ms. Brazile.
