Rep. Kinzinger on the VA: 'This is like the medical version of the DMV'
Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger, an Air Force major with three tours in Iraq, is disgusted with the VA and the foot dragging by Democrats in the Senate and the VA on fixing the scheduling mess that has resulted in veterans not seeing VA doctors in the two week time period required by law. VA employees altered and destroyed some records to prevent higher ups from learning about the SNAFUs.
Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois said Thursday it is time for the Department of Veterans Affairs to stop studying its backlog issues and start acting.
“This is like the medical version of the DMV,” the Republican told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” which kicked off the discussion by lambasting the VA’s stacks of uncomputerized records.
Mr. Kinzinger, who served in the Air Force, took Sen. Jon Tester, Montana Democrat, to task for defending the VA on the MSNBC program one day prior. He also said he cannot see how VA Secretary Eric Shinseki can keep his job through a burgeoning scandal at the VA, after dozens of veterans allegedly died waiting for care in Phoenix.
The congressman said veterans should be eligible for a voucher to see a local clinic while they wait for their veterans’ care.
“It is high time that the VA take this dead seriously,” he said.
The difference between the DMV and the VA is that people don't die waiting for their drivers' license while veterans died waiting for treatment from the VA.
Mr. Kinzinger should realize by now that there is no accountability in this adminstration - even when incompetent management leads to lives being lost. Benghazi, the VA, Obamacare implementation - no one gets fired. They have a lifetime contract in the Obama administration - as long as they toe the party line.
