No Shame for Obama
It is official: Obama has now ushered in the Age of the Dictator for America. This man is, in essence, acting as emperor of this country. Despite the will of the American people, despite the outright illegal usurpation of rights that the president of the United States does not possess, Obama has changed the landscape of this country forever.
For those who would counter that Reagan and Bush Sr. afforded amnesty, Mark Krikorian ably refutes this assertion. Unlike previous situations, there have been no "foreign crises in the illegals' home countries and thus [this] is not relevant to the current discussion." In fact, Reagan's and Bush's moves were cleanup measures "for the implementation of the once-in-history amnesty that was passed by Congress." But Obama's move is "directly contrary to Congress's decision not to pass an amnesty."
With every move, Obama chips away at the very foundation of America. As one who knows too intimately what a dictatorship looks like, Cuban dissident Orlando Luis Pardo Lazo has written that "[t]hat’s what totalitarianism is all about: the State as an imitation of God."
In effect, this bullying and total disregard for the law mirrors what Obama is doing concerning discipline in the schools. Society is now expected to accept out-of-control behavior by black students and simply do nothing about it. Consequently:
... '[w]hat this means is that whites and Asians will get suspended for things that blacks don’t get suspended for, because school officials will try to level punishments despite groups’ different infraction rates,' predicted Hans Bader, a counsel at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. Bader is a former official in the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights, and has sued and represented school districts and colleges in civil-rights cases.
This is the double standard that Obama is so fond of. He does not have to abide by Obamacare; he does not have to abide by the Constitution; he is above the law simply because of his race. His lies are accepted because to make him accountable is to be racist. Whether it is a 15-year-old student wreaking havoc in a classroom or a 53-year-old president trashing the Constitution, race trumps rules.
At a talk sponsored by the Heritage Foundation, Jeff Sessions was asked by a Russian journalist whether Obama would be impeached. Most telling was the reaction by those in the audience: a nervous titter instead of a righteous indignation, even though they know full well that Obama's actions are impeachable offenses. They weren't even willing to engage in a discussion – the idea was immediately tabled, and thus Obama receives another free pass for unlawful behavior.
We now live in a society where shame is nonexistent. Myron Magnet's piece entitled "Bring Back Stigma" highlights how "anything does go" in modern America. Those who attempt to buck the tide are the ones made to feel guilty while bad behavior is accepted – even applauded – and society ultimately suffers for it.
Besides shredding the Constitution, Obama's decisions put Americans in harm's way. One wonders whose leader he really is. At the Washington Examiner, Charles Hoskinson reveals that Obama has released more detainees from Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, such that House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon maintains that "what the Obama administration is doing is dangerous and, frankly, reckless." In fact, data from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence indicates that "107 of 620 detainees released from Guantanamo, or 17.3 percent had been confirmed as returning to terrorism and another 77, or 12.4 percent, were suspected of having done so."
It is fascinating how Obama uses religion when it suits his purposes. In this 2008 video, one hears a totally confusing speech by Obama. Toward the end of this tortuous recitation, Obama states that we "don't want faith used to belittle and divide." In light of six years of this man, we can see how he, indeed, constantly belittles faith, takes ideas out of context, and divides and conquers by pitting various groups against each other. Sorry, Prez, but "Scripture Doesn't Support Amnesty," as explained at The Federalist.
How quaint that Obama uses the Bible to trash the Constitution. This is a man who despises biblical traditions of charity for America but willingly abuses those traditions to break American law. And there are those in the United States who see through his disingenuousness. Consequently, black activists are speaking out against Obama's amnesty agenda. Joe R. Hicks, former executive director of the Greater Los Angeles chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, asserts:
President Obama strode into the White House promising to give the American people the audacity of hope. What we are witnessing instead, with his immigration agenda, is an audacious grab for power and an evisceration of the Constitution.
Mychal Massie, whose masthead reads "We reach all people with the truth, never changing it based on race or skin color," poignantly asks, "What Are Republicans Waiting For?" – "Why have they not so much as intimated they were going to finally hold Obama accountable for his unconstitutional actions?"
And down at our porous southern border, one learns that Art del Cueto, president of the Border Patrol's Tucson Sector union, reports that "in his 12 years as a Border Patrol agent, he has never experienced the federal government coming to the field and removing such a quantity of weapons at one time because of service issues." In fact, there was a "removal of about half of the Border Patrol's supply of M4 carbine weapons" where "federal agents arrived ... without prior notice," causing Rep. Steve King of Iowa to assert that "this sounds to me like a ruse to start to take the weapons out of the hands of the Border Patrol" in time for the latest arrival of illegal aliens. Mind you, the border agents were not having any prior difficulties with these weapons, but Obama is now disarming them.
And to get to the nitty-gritty, how many millions of illegal aliens will ultimately qualify for this discretionary amnesty and completely overwhelm American hospitals, schools, courts, and other institutions that are totally unprepared to deal with this? Furthermore, Obama's latest unilateral action will result in the destruction of American jobs.
Obama is directing a self-coup whereby he came to power "through legal means but [is] now dissolving or rendering powerless the national legislature and unlawfully assuming extraordinary powers, not granted under normal circumstances." In other words, the road to a dictatorship. The NSA spies on us – but there is nothing here to worry about according to the 44th president. And for those liberals who would counter that "Bush did this, too," I direct you to read this piece by Rick Moran showing the differences between the two presidents.
Obama's tentacles expand to silence and suppress alleged enemies. The most recent revelation is an e-mail that "proves that the DOJ targeted reporter Sharyl Attkisson" as "out of control" because her reporting was "really bad for the AG [Attorney General]." The corrupt Department of Justice targets anyone deemed dangerous and who will diminish its power – e.g., James Rosen, Fox News reporter, was accused of being a co-conspirator in a spying case when, in fact, he was merely reporting the news. Conservative groups continue to be singled out by the IRS, and no one is punished by this administration. And, of course, everything is done in secrecy, because that is how corrupt government breeds and metastasizes.
When it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck. Obama's actions continually undermine the sovereignty of the country and put Americans at risk. Thus, Ted Cruz has aptly paraphrased Cicero's oratory: "You are known in the naked ugliness of your craven ambition to cause this republic’s downfall."
Will Americans permit these abuses, or will they hearken to Michele Bachmann's request to "melt the phone lines ... from December 1st to the 11th ... and demand that Congress defund amnesty"? Bachmann is also urging Americans to come to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, December 3 at high noon on the west steps of the Capitol for a rally and to visit senators and congressmen, "because nothing frightens a congressman like the whites of his constituents' eyes."
It seems way overdue that our representatives feel the shame of their inaction. After all, "[i]f President Obama is now doing what he has consistently proclaimed he didn't have either the power or the authority to do and no one at least tries to stop him," "[w]hat is there that he can't do?"
