Bill not interested in Hill's senate seat

This is not a surprise given the fact that Bill Clinton is probably going to do something of a disappearing act once his wife is sworn in as Secretary of State.

There is just no way that Bill Clinton will have any kind of high profile once the Obama Administration gets underway. Whether he can stay undercover is an entirely different question. It would not surprise me that one of the conditions attached to Hillary's elevation was some kind of arrangement with Bill to try and stay out of sight. The press will be after him to comment on every little move Obama makes anyway and the temptation to aggrandize Hillary (or himself) at the president's expense would prove too much for a man who has shown a cat like love of the camera and the limelight.

But some were suggesting that the former president replace his wife. In an op-ed last week in the Washington Post, journalist and author Karl Meyer and his wife urged Patterson to "send Bill Clinton to the Senate."

Responding to such speculation, Clinton spokesman Matt McKenna tells CNN that "it's completely false. President Clinton is excited to expand the work of his foundation which has more than 1,000 staff and volunteers in 44 countries advancing projects on HIV/AIDS, climate change, sustainable economic development and childhood obesity."

The former president's Clinton Global Initiative has helped to raise nearly $50 billion for more than 1,200 projects that are aimed at improving the lives of people across the globe. In the United States, the Clinton Foundation helps in the battle against childhood obesity.

No doubt his foundation will keep him busy and his globe trotting will keep him pretty far removed from the American press. But you and I both know that eventually, Bill is going to stick his foot in it. And the chances are pretty good that Hillary's tenure as Secretary of State will last only as long as Bill Clinton's will power in avoiding controversy.
