With Democrats screaming at him to "get tough" with John McCain, Barack Obama's gazillion dollar campaign leapt all over the Repunlican's inability to remember the number of houses he owns by claiming the Arizona senator was "out of touch" with ordinary Americans.

Did nobody in Obama's entire well oiled campaign machine remind the candidate that he has his own problems with being viewed as an elitist:

Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses? Does a guy who worries about the price of arugula and thinks regular people "cling" to guns and religion in the face of economic hardship really want to have a debate about who's in touch with regular Americans? "The reality is that Barack Obama's plans to raise taxes and opposition to producing more energy here at home as gas prices skyrocket show he's completely out of touch with the concerns of average Americans."

And did no one else gently remind the candidate that when it comes to houses, he who lives in a glass one should keep their mouths shut?

Sen. John McCain's campaign is finishing a hard-hitting television ad highlighting Barack Obama 's ties to shady Chicago land dealer Tony Rezko, the one-time Obama patron who was convicted earlier this summer of fraud.

A campaign official said that the decision to Go Rezko was Obama's. "He's opened the door to this," the official said.

The ad will be released to network news divisions in time for their broadcasts tonight.

Though McCain is widely perceived to to drawn first blood by attacking Obama's character, the official said that the difference between Obama's mocking McCain for his wealth and his shaky answer on the number of homes he owns was that McCain's charge "reflects an existential reality," where Obama's charges "attack Cindy. She owns the homes. I thought he said the wives were off-limits."

This follows hot on the heels of Obama actually criticizing a McCain associate Ralph Reed, trying to tie the lobbyist to convicted felon Jack Abramhoff.

At any rate, the gloves are off and McCain and his surrogates are in full attack mode. They are going to make the name "William Ayers" as well known as "Barack Obama" and that's only the beginning. Expect to see Reverend Wright to make a triumphant re-appearance later in September as those YouTube videos of Obama's screaming, ranting preacher will be a large part of McCain's efforts to paint Obama as a radical.

I don't think these Obama guys are very bright.
