Obama fibs about his liberal past

More easy lies by the candidate of "change."

In his first run for state senate, Obama released a voter survey that detailed his liberal stands on issues like gun control and abortion among others. When discovered by an anti-Obama group, the campaign issued a statement saying that Obama never saw the survey and that it was filled out by a staffer who "misrepresented" some of his positions.

Investigating the matter, Politico found out that in fact, Obama knew all about the survey:

But a Politico examination determined that Obama was actually interviewed about the issues on the questionnaire by the liberal Chicago non-profit group that issued it.

And it found that Obama – the day after sitting for the interview – filed an amended version of the questionnaire, which appears to contain Obama’s own handwritten notes adding to one answer.

The two questionnaires, provided to Politico with assistance from political sources opposed to Obama’s presidential campaign, were later supplied directly from the group, Independent Voters of Illinois – Independent Precinct Organization. Obama and his then-campaign manager, who Obama’s campaign asserts filled out the questionnaires, were familiar with the group, its members and positions, since both were active in it before his 1996 state Senate run.

The Obama campaign still maintains he never read the questionnaire, that he simply scribbled some notes on the first page and that a staffer did indeed fill it out.

No word how long the campaign spokesman's nose got while telling those whoppers.

Ed Lasky guesses that "he does not want to tarnish the image of being able to build bipartisan bridges" which is entirely the point. The Obama campaign is hiding the candidate's far left liberalism in order to make him more palatable to the voters.

He has succeeded so far. It will be up to McCain to expose him during the general election campaign.
