Fresh from her non involvement in the Irish peace process, several months later Hillary pressed bravely on to Bosnia in Central Europe in spite of the danger.

“I certainly do remember that trip to Bosnia,” she said last week. “There was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn’t go, so send the First Lady.

“I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.”

However as part of the uhm, older Baby Boomer generation her memory is, well you know, ah, a little fuzzy perhaps. Or something. Because:

...her account has been challenged, first by Sinbad, the comedian, who traveled with her, and then by news organizations, most notably the Washington Post, which awarded her four “Pinnochios” which it gives for major “whoppers.”

So her own campaign spokesman has to contradict their boss, their candidate. Not that she is a liar of course but:

Now what kind of president would you want answering the red phone at 3 in the afternoon not to mention 3 in the morning when the kiddies are sound asleep and the president's mind is tired?

[a] a president who thinks traveling to a relatively safe neighborhood in a hostile area guarded by troops indicates her bravery and competence and experience

[b] a president who has endured sniper fire and worse, surviving with mind and integrity intact.
