An interesting look at Obama's early years from the
Chicago Reader that was recently
shown at Little Green Footballs and other places. Obama confirms that he marched with Louis Farrakhan at the Million Man March. (We
had the story a couple of weeks ago.)
But what stood out for me was a little toss-off line about his leaving Harvard Law School and "an almost certain Supreme Court clerkship."
Really? How could one be almost certain about something like that? Supreme Court clerkships are some of the most competitive positions for academic stars at the nation's law schools. You would have to be awfully cocky to tell people (who told the reporter?) something like this.
Even the most brilliant of students can never count on a clerkship at SCOTUS.
Whoever spun this tell must think that Obama had some special advantage, making him "almost certain" to leap ahead of the competition. I wonder what kind of advantage that could be?

And no lawyer would pass up an opportunity to clerk on the Supreme Court.
