American Thinker has extensively covered the troubling links between Ron Paul's campaign and neo-Nazis. For our trouble we were blasted by some critics, and subjected to a torrent of abusive letters from Ron Paul supporters.

But now, a claimed Neo-Nazi, Bill White [see important update below], Commander of the American National Socialist Workers Party, says he is fed up with the campaign's mild distancing and disavowal, and claims on a neo-Nazi website, the Vanguard News Network, that he has attended meetings with Paul at both a Thai restaurant in Arlington, and in his official office.

Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs has picked-up the story from the Lone Star Times and further assembled links to corroborating evidence, and offers a redirect link to the website on which White writes:

I have kept quiet about the Ron Paul campaign for a while, because I didn't see any need to say anything that would cause any trouble. However, reading the latest release from his campaign spokesman, I am compelled to tell the truth about Ron Paul's extensive involvement in white nationalism.

Both Congressman Paul and his aides regularly meet with members of the Stormfront set, American Renaissance, the Institute for Historic Review, and others at the Tara Thai restaurant in Arlington, Virginia, usually on Wednesdays. This is part of a dinner that was originally organized by Pat Buchanan, Sam Francis and Joe Sobran, and has since been mostly taken over by the Council of Conservative Citizens.

I have attended these dinners, seen Paul and his aides there, and been invited to his offices in Washington to discuss policy.

For his spokesman to call white racialism a "small ideology" and claim white activists are "wasting their money" trying to influence Paul is ridiculous. Paul is a white nationalist of the Stormfront type who has always kept his racial views and his views about world Judaism quiet because of his political position.

I don't know that it is necessarily good for Paul to "expose" this. However, he really is someone with extensive ties to white nationalism and for him to deny that in the belief he will be more respectable by denying it is outrageous - and I hate seeing people in the press who denounce racialism merely because they think it is not fashionable.

I suppose there a slight chance [see update] this is all an elaborate hoax, but it doesn't look that way. Judge for yourself. If Paul believes White is lying, he should sue. And testify under oath.

Update: According to the ADL, White has a difficult relationship with the truth.

Not surprisingly, Bill White, who had been the NSM's media liaison and a spokesperson at a number of NSM rallies, was behind some of the tensions that escalated within the group in the spring and summer of 2006. Standing in his Nazi uniform, White often represented the face of the NSM to the media, especially after he acted as the group's spokesperson when a planned NSM march led to riots in Toledo, Ohio, in October 2005, and attracted national media attention. Along with his media savvy, White is known for spreading propaganda and lies about his perceived enemies, including other white supremacists. He has made a number of disparaging remarks about the Vinlanders Social Club, an umbrella organization of racist skinheads, which contributed to a brawl between members of the NSM and the Vinlanders at Nordicfest, a white power event in Kentucky in May 2006. White's taunts against the Vinlanders and others in the white supremacist movement led many extremists to question why the NSM kept him on as a leader. [snip]

Onbiously, one should be cautious in accepting his claims.

"I ran those dinners -- Ron Paul was never there ... nor did we run some sort of neo-nazi meeting: we had academics and activists of national repute. In the audience were people who work in gov't, businessmen, and grass roots types too. If Bill White ever came to the meetings, he didn't use his real name -- he doesn't even get the name of the restaurant correctly. White is so obviously playing the media -- anyone on the right does not pay one moment's notice to him, but the media is always on the lookout for kooks like him."
