Yesterday, listening to the radio while driving, I learned that (once again) I had missed the Dear Leader's birthday, the major event of the year in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Those North Koreans who haven't starved to death yet may even have gotten extra rations of food, as is traditional in that constantly hungry (except for potbellied Kim himself, of course) nation. However, there is some doubt that any extra rations were available this year.

Time pressures being what they were, I was unable to actually sit down and write anything commemorating the grand occasion. Fortunately, Jules Crittenden wrote something I would like to believe I could have written. (This is happening disturbingly often, ever since he started his blog). Read the whole thing. Here's a sample:

Darn, I missed it Feb. 14, the Great February Holiday, but it's never too late to express joy and study the great advances made since the birth 65 years ago of Kim Jong Il.

Apparently forgotten amid the great expressions of Songun Joy was last week's Glorious Shakedown of the Imperialist War Criminal Nation and its Lackeys, in which the right of North Korea to threaten the world stalwartly with ingenious third-rate 1950s-era nuclear weapons and the needs of the Korea people to be happy with free oil were recognized by cowering dogs who represent the aggressors. But in such a happy time as the Great February Holiday, even accomplishments such as this are overshadowed by the towering benevolence of Kim Jong Il!
