Brown University to provide tampons in men’s bathrooms

Drum roll, please!  The Brown University Undergraduate Finance Board has a new initiative, and it’s a doozy: tampons will now be available in both the women’s and the men’s bathrooms on campus.  Because...?  “[T]he initiative is a means of educating students that men menstruate as well as women.”

(Excuse me while I laugh until my sides ache, then cry, throw my hands up in the air, shake my head, and finish up by pulling the hair out of my head.)

OK.  I’m back.

So that little gem quoted above is courtesy of the university’s student president, Viet Nguyen.  Breitbart reports:

In an email to the student body, Nguyen said, “There’s been a lot of conversation about why pads and tampons are a necessity, not a luxury, but not a lot of action. We wanted to take it into our own hands.”

He also claimed the initiative would help “low-income students [who] struggle with having the necessary funding for food, let alone tampons,” and that it would “set a tone of trans-inclusivity” that trans people are “an important part of the population.”

Aside from the obvious insanity on display here, it’s amusing that this social justice warrior is bemoaning students who can barely afford food, no less tampons.  Um, if you can’t afford food, you probably shouldn’t be attending a private university.  And a public university – even a community college – is also probably above your pay grade if you are unaware of the fact that men don’t menstruate.

I leave it to AT commentators to weigh in on this little slice of madness.
