Hey, consumers, don't fret: GMO produce aren't Frankenfoods...and regular climate isn't Frankenweather

There is as much data to support the view that Genetically Modified Organisms [GMOs] are safe as there is to support the view that climate is changing as a result of man made CO2, yet the same people who rant and rave against GMO’s are mostly the same, primarily leftists, who think we should ban petroleum.  How strange.

In research I did years ago, there were enormous numbers of studies sifting the data for evidence of ill effects from ingestion of these GMO vegetables, fruits and produce in general, or the fauna who eat these altered seeds and livestock feed. Cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, sheep, deer, rabbits, and others.  There has been zero indication of damage, short-term or long-, from eating GMO foods. This research is now I believe longitudinally more than 50 years old or so. Yet the nay-sayers, like Prince Charles of the UK, still maintain a strongly negative and overcautious view. Were it just a decade, and diseases take, as we know, longer than that, sometimes, to gestate or bloom, we could be more secure in our negativity. But decades have passed, and the alarums are nowhere actualized.

One argument some make, not outlandish, is that GMO products be labeled as such, so consumers can decide whether to purchase them or not. But as this article indicates, so much of what we eat is either directly or indirectly modified and subsumed under general packaging without taking note of the entire length of the food chain that has gone into the particular product one is buying that specific labeling may not be feasible.

Similarly, scientists who cast data-supported objections to the fictional latter-day theory (not fact) of climate change -- itself a tautology, as climate is never stable, has never been stable, and in the normal course of events will never be stable, no matter how many regulations are passed, or entire industry sectors are abolished or starved -- are demeaned, derogated and mocked.

Science is not a consensus. And shamefully, this administration and its purportedly scientific illiterati cannot look at the absence of rigorous data and recognize that they are far short of factual reality when they stir the cauldron with notions of seas rising or impending and permanent temperature ascents.

The ledger is not closed. The ice caps are not uniformly  shrinking. In fact, as anyone who reads a magazine or paper knows, the southern ice cap is far thicker than it was, and is getting only more so. The scenic polar bears are not disappearing, but are gaining in population. Al Gore and his “Inconvenient” movie are inconveniently proven multiply wrong and error-riddled by all manner of professional debunkers, experts, industry-knowledgeable professors and scientists.

In Hebrew there is a phrase that translates roughly as  here are no bears, and there’s no forest. Don’t let your anxiety run away with your intelligence.

In other words, stop the unwarranted hysteria. GMO foods we are all consuming daily are so far, after half a century, pretty fine, and they thwart pests and germs we don't want, producing bumper crops to feed the world's hungry on smaller plots of land than heretofore. And the climate will be with us, happily, no matter what the Democrats decry instead of attending to the wholesale slaughter of minorities in the Middle East they are notably myopic about noticing.

Maybe follow what the pop singer crooned, Don't worry. Be happy.
