Should the Academy Awards have a category for Best Black Actor?

Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith are boycotting the Academy Awards because no black actors have been nominated.  (Perhaps that is a good thing, at least for Jada, who might welcome the time to straighten out her cross-dressing son.)

Mr. Lee’s boycott is especially fraught for the Academy because, though he received an honorary Oscar in November his latest film, “Chi-Raq,” earned no nominations.

Well, now we know why Spike is upset!  But there's more!

... the homogeneity of Hollywood has recently come under increased  scrutiny[.]

Well, I can agree with that.  I think the homogeneity in Hollywood should be closely investigated, too.

But  I wonder if perhaps this problem could be solved if the Academy created categories just for black actors.  In addition for "Best Actor in a Leading Role", why can't there be a category for "Best Black Actor in a Leading Role"?  And why not a "Best Black Actress in a Leading Role," and a "Best Black Actor in a Supporting Role" (whether that means a black actor or a white actor who supports a black actor, I leave open to your imagination!).  Why can't we have a category for Black Sound Mixing, and Black Makeup?  With categories like these, blacks are guaranteed to win awards year after year!

Of course, if we do that, we'll also have to add categories for "Best Hispanic Actor in a Leading Role," and then maybe "Best Undocumented Immigrant Actor in a Leading Role," and then of course "Best Islamic Actor in a Leading Role," and then possibly "Best Gay Actor in a Leading Role"...but this will probably not lead to "Best Gay Actor in a Leading Straight Role."

Unfortunately, with all these additional categories, the Academy Awards would end up being a ten-hour telethon.

But Academy Awards aside, I also have to wonder if Spike Lee will boycott the Nobel Prize.  After all, there has been exactly one black Nobel laureate in economics and exactly zero in sciences.  If that isn't racism, what is?

And perhaps he will want to boycott the Democratic Party, which has only one black senator and exactly zero black governors.  And while he's at it, he should boycott environmental groups, who also discriminate against black people.

Or, to make things easier, perhaps the Academy can simply give Spike another award.
