California public school embraces sharia law

A middle school in southern California has embraced sharia law.  Of course, school officials think they’re just being sensitive and considerate.  But they defended Islamic blasphemy law and paved the way for Muslims and/or Muslim sympathizers to assert supremacy.

Per The Daily News, 7th-grade students in the Acton-Aqua Dulce Unified School District were given a vocabulary list in history class as part of an assignment called “The Rise of Islam.”  The list included words like Mohammed, Quran, Mecca, and so forth.  In addition to the vocabulary list, there was also space for students to draw pictures related to the words.

Uh-oh.

A parent took issue with the assignment, concerned that it would be offensive.  As in “it’s not appropriate to have our children go to school and learn how to insult a religious group.”

And what religious group might that be?  And how, pray tell, might this as yet to be identified religious group be offended?

I’ll take a wild guess.  Muslims.  Because the Quran disallows anyone to draw an image of Mohammed.

OK.  Now that we’ve got that clarified, let’s remember who we are, and who we are not.  We are not an Islamic country.  We do not follow sharia law.  We do not honor blasphemy laws.  And our schools are not madrassas.

And when we cave, even in seemingly small ways, we set out on the path to ruin.

So, predictably, the school district caved.

The mother’s complaint prompted the superintendent to consult with an “expert on Islam,” after which time the superintendent announced (wait for it): “I have directed all staff to permanently suspend the practice of drawing or depiction of any religious leader[.] … I am certain this teacher did not intend to offend anyone and in fact was simply teaching respect and tolerance for all cultures.”

Hmm.  Still a mystery as to whom they fear they offended.

And just to make sure they covered their collected dhimmi posteriors, the school district president also chimed in, assuring everyone that the teacher who gave the assignment is “very tolerant” and “inclusive.”  But aiming for a 10 out of 10 on the grovel meter, he added that “more sensitivity” is needed.

A little nervous there, folks?  About what, I wonder.

Naturally, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) jumped into the fray, urging the school district not to deviate from approved curricula so they don’t risk introducing any “offensive material.”

Well, I’m sure the school district will take great care in that department.  As such, I would like to ask school leaders about the next item on their dhimmitude to-do list.  Because the number of things that offend Muslims is infinitely long.

The school district just ushered in Islamic supremacy by creating a rule for everyone based on sharia law because one Muslim (or even theoretically one Muslim) is, or might be, offended by something.

“The Rise of Islam,” indeed.
