Ben Shapiro physically threatened on television program

On Thursday, Ben Shapiro appeared with several other guests on a television program called Dr. Drew on Call.  The topic of discussion was whether  Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner deserved to receive ESPY’s Arthur Ashe Courage Award.  And before you know it, another guest by the name of Zoey Tur, who, like Jenner, is a male who identifies as female, responded to a comment made by Shapiro with a physical threat.

Tur is a fairly large and imposing man and was sitting next to Shapiro.  He leaned in, put his hand on Shapiro’s shoulder, and with a deadly serious tone of voice and facial expression said: “You cut that out now, or you’ll go home in an ambulance.”

My jaw hit the floor.

But as crazy as Tur’s behavior was, things got even crazier.  Because no one – not the host or a single person on the panel – flinched.  Including Shapiro.  All Shapiro said was: “That seems mildly inappropriate for a political discussion.”

Shortly thereafter, Shapiro was accused of being “aggressively insulting.”  Yet no one found Tur’s aggression worthy of comment.  The man had just physically threatened Shapiro!

As the discussion continued to devolve, Tur took verbal stabs at Shapiro, repeatedly calling him a “little man” and a person filled with “hate,” and alluded to “consequences” for “hate speech.”

Eventually the program ended, and that seemed to be that.  Except that it wasn’t.

On Friday, the following messages appeared on Twitter:

Breitbart reports:

Curb-stomping is a heinously violent street practice where the victim is forced to bite the corner of a cement street curb before the assailant stomps on the victims head. (snip)

Curb-stomping is a practice made infamous by American Nazi skinheads.

Ben Shapiro is Jewish.

So much for inclusion and tolerance and whatever other buzzwords the left assigns to its cause of the month.  Tur just agreed that he’d love to see Shapiro’s head stomped on while Shapiro would be forced to lie facedown with his teeth biting the curb, for days on end.

It’s hard to find words for this level of hate.  I hope Shapiro will stay safe from harm.

It now appears that Drew has invited Tur and Shapiro to come back on his program.  Per a report at Breitbart, Drew was unaware of the tweet noted above.

My take on all of this is that Shapiro was needlessly smug on the program, which was frustrating because he is extraordinarily bright and has important things to say.  However, there was no excuse – none! – for Tur’s behavior.

Nor was it acceptable for Tur’s threat to go without being called out.  Personally, I wish Shapiro had firmly asked Tur to remove his hand from his body and to tell him that he will immediately be contacting the police.  But that’s just me.

Finally, it is absolutely outrageous that Tur (who is a correspondent for Inside Edition, by the way) continued to threaten Shapiro the following day with his tweet in support of curb-stomping Shapiro.

None of this should be tolerated for a nanosecond.  I hope Shapiro will file charges against him.
