Cabbie ordered to pay $15K for telling couple not to kiss in his cab

A New York taxi driver has been ordered to pay $15,000 – several months’ pay – for telling a couple not to kiss in his cab.  “Keep that for the bedroom or get out of the cab,” New York City taxi driver Mohammed Dahbi said to the amorous duo.

The lovers he admonished happened to be lesbians, and had they been heterosexuals, it is almost certain nothing like this financial catastrophe would have befallen him.

Dahbi’s lawyer, Ali Najmi, claims that the driver often told heterosexual couples to quit fooling around in his cab because they were distracting him from driving. “My client never once mentioned anything about their sexuality and never threw them out of the taxi,” Najmi told the New York Post. Upset over how they were treated, the women contacted the Commission on Human Rights, which filed a complaint with New York City’s Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings.

The presumption has been that Dhabi reacted as he did because of the women’s sexuality.  It seems that the administrative procedures used to fine him don’t require proof that he prohibits only same-sex kissing in his cab.

Some animals are more equal than other animals.  But remember that progressives care about little people.
