How we can help Israel

These days it’s hard not to feel helpless in the face of madness that swirls like a cyclone. When it comes to Israel, it’s painful and enraging to see how little the Obama administration cares about our only ally in the Middle East. And we all know the reasons why.

But there are ways to circumvent the most anti-Semitic president since Jimmy Carter in order to support Israel. She needs our help now more than ever, as she battles enemies who are sending a barrage of rockets that penetrate ever-deeper into the country.

Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) https://www.fidf.org/ is a top-rated charity that is in urgent need of funds to support soldiers as they prepare for imminent battle. Every single penny donated will go directly to soldiers’ needs.

Here is a bit of background for those not familiar with this organization:

Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) was established in 1981 by a group of Holocaust survivors to provide for education and wellbeing of the men and women who serve in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) as well as the families of fallen soldiers. Headquartered in New York City, FIDF is a 501c3 not-for-profit corporation that operates 15 regional offices in the United States and Panama.

The strength of the IDF, which has been guarding the State of Israel since it declared independence in 1948, derives from the selfless determination and great capabilities of the young men and women who form it. At the tender age of 18, all Israelis are drafted into the IDF. Those who serve commit to uphold the difficult tasks of defending Israel’s borders and guaranteeing the safety of its people.

The Israeli government is responsible for training IDF soldiers and providing them with the necessary tools for their service. FIDF is committed to providing these soldiers with love, support, and care in an effort to ease the burden they carry on behalf of the Jewish community worldwide.

From making a one-time donation to becoming actively involved in a local FIDF chapter, this is a way for those of us who support Israel to take action and do something tangible that makes a difference.

I hope AT readers will join me in supporting the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces. I look forward to reading comments and learning about other ways you support Israel during these dark days.
