Michelle Obama's help for 'confused and bewildered' grocery shoppers is lame

Face it, Michelle Obama is a busybody, the kind of person who thinks she knows what everyone else should be doing, and is eager to unburden herself with gratuitous, unwelcome advice. It’s one thing to have such a person as a neighbor; you can ignore the busybody next door. But when the busybody is FLOTUS, and borrows her husband’s power (The Constitution makes no provision for the office of First Lady), we all end up paying for her advice, welcome or not.

Such is the case for the new food labeling requirements touted yesterday by Mrs. Obama as help for “confused and bewildered” grocery shoppers. You see, people are so stupid, they need her looking out for them.

At a cost of $2 billion, to be borne by the food industry and passed on to consumers in the form of higher prices, we will end up with the vastly better label on the right:

Yeah, that’ll really help.
