Dems didn't do their Obamacare homework and now they are flunking

Most of us who are or have been parents know what it takes to get kids to do their homework.  Some children are self-starters, motivated to do well from the outset.  Other equally smart kids have to be pushed and prodded to do what has to be done for school.   Parents do the prodding up to a point.  By high school, it becomes rather clear which kids grasp what it takes to excel and which kids are going to fly by the seat of their pants.  The former usually, but not always, go on to perform well in college.  The latter sometimes surprise their parents and do well...or not.  There is no magic moment that lets parents know which kid will be successful or if and how they may succeed.   And, as we all know,  smart kids can be very lazy and unmotivated and not so smart kids can be very motivated and disciplined.  Which kind of people end up in Congress?  Neither.  What we have in Congress, with numerous notable exceptions, are the ne'er do wells.

Case in point is Obamacare.  It is abundantly clear by now that virtually no member of Congress read the bill.  All those Democrats who fought so valiantly for it, who ignored the warnings of people who did read it (Betsy McCaughy, for example), and who accused those opposed of being racist, are now running for cover.  A month after vilifying Ted Cruz for trying to educate people about the nightmare Obamacare would bring, those same Dems are begging for relief from it.

Not one of them did their homework.  Nearly every one of them is as lazy as Obama.  They all took the easy way to victory, like a kid who thinks he can fake it or cheat.  And cheat they did.  For over three years, every Democrat in Congress has accused opponents of Obamacare of lacking compassion.  Nearly every Democrat has parroted Obama's line that "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan.  If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor."   They may have believed this, but the President surely knew better.  He knew he was telling a lie.  As did the architects of the law that is now tearing America apart, leaving millions without medical insurance and attracting very few to  the exchanges which offer less coverage for more money and higher deductibles.

Those plans were "substandard" they say.  Our plans are better they say.  Another huge lie.   Now most of those people losing their insurance will not be able to afford the premiums and deductibles offered by the exchanges.  People are losing access to doctors they have gone to for years.  In desperation, doctors are deciding not to take Medicaid or Medicare.  They cannot afford to care for people and not be paid enough to cover their expenses.   In short, the rollout of Obamacare is a disaster of monumental proportions that will not easily be fixed.  All because our leadership did not do its homework.  They cared about pleasing Obama, not a whit about the American people or their health care.  They faked it all the way.

Watching the various hearings of late -- on Benghazi, on the IRS crimes, on Obamacare, one thing becomes crystal clear:  most of our elected representatives have never done their homework!  Far too many of them on both sides of the aisle are horrifyingly uninformed, even about the issues of the day.  Far too many of them waste what time they have to ask a question to ramble on about nothing beyond attacking their "opponents."  They blather about their narrow ideology but know nothing.  When did we stop electing people who did do their homework?  And the people on the hot seats?  Those with prestigious appointments to this agency or that agency?  With a few exceptions (Gregory Hicks, for example) they are worse then their inquisitors.   The purported geniuses hired to "fix" the Obamacare website presented themselves as high school nerds without a clue about anything. They were unable to answer the simplest of questions, such as was the site "fully tested?"  The genius did not understand that question. Chances are they do not have what it takes to fix what ails the most expensive website ever attempted.

We have come to a crossroads.  The leadership of America, for the most part, are indolent, arrogant, pretentious and not well-informed (think Schumer, Durbin, McCain, McConnell, Pelosi, Boxer, etc).  They are destroying America.  The people who do do their homework are forever trying to educate the low-information voters without much success (think Cruz, Rubio, Lee, Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt, Mark Levin, etc.).  But low-information voters are not interested in information and they are definitely not interested in homework.

Where do we go from here?  The future does not look good.  Obama has transformed America as he promised he would.  High unemployment is now the norm.  College grads without jobs are the new norm.  Part-time labor is the norm.  Fifty million people on food stamps is the new norm.  Seventeen trillion dollars in debt is the new norm.  Constant upheaval in the Middle East is the new norm.  Mob violence for the thrill of it is the new norm.  Chinese and Russian supremacy on the world stage is the new norm.   Anti-Semitism is the new  norm.   Terrorist threats are the norm.  All because our so-called best and brightest stopped doing their homework.
