Snowden receives asylum offers

Edward Snowden must be so sick of airport food by now that the prospect of asylum in Venezuela, where they can't even keep a steady supply of toilet paper on the store shelves, looks pretty good. Fabiola Sanchez and Luis Manuel Galeano of the AP report: The presidents of Nicaragua and Venezuela offered Friday to grant asylum to NSA leaker Edward Snowden, one day after leftist South American leaders gathered to denounce the rerouting of Bolivian President Evo Morales' plane over Europe amid reports that the American was aboard. Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela and Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua made their offers during separate speeches in their home countries Friday afternoon. Both Venezuela and Nicaragua are left wing semi-dictatorships, virulently anti-American. Both countries face serious economic challenges thanks to their adherence to socialism.
