Don't Make it About Barack Obama

Erick Erickson over at Redstate joins the voices calling on conservatives to keep our eyes on the bigger target, which is Big Government itself - not Obama, not even the Democrats.  Use Obama's overreach to focus on our own crucial Tea Party message of limited, constitutional government.

He has this wonderful quote from George Washington that should be better known and widely repeated: "Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."

Here's Erickson's key point:

 and this is the most important part -- Republicans must remember that the problem is not Democrats in charge of government, but government itself. The argument falls flat if Republicans revert to "big government conservative" arguments of "put us in charge" and we'll do better with the same. No they won't.
