Why would Obama's campaign strategist attend Obama's Kill List Meetings

David Axelrod evidently attended the highest level national security meetings that decided who would be subjected to targeted assasination from above via drone strikes. Daniel Harper reports in the Weekly Standard: The New York Times has a very lengthy article today on President Barack Obama's war on terrorism policy. Obama himself, at his weekly "Terror Tuesday" meetings, "[insists] on approving every new name on an expanding 'kill list,' poring over terrorist suspects' biographies on what one official calls the macabre 'baseball cards' of an unconventional war," the Times reports. But perhaps the oddest revelation in the news story is this: David Axelrod attended Obama's "Kill List" meetings.
