COIN's Ultimate See-No-Jihad Failure in 'Af-Pak'

A 5/9/12 report by MEMRI highlights the ultimate failure of our "Af-Pak policy." The delusional, See-No-Jihad post-modern COIN "strategy" of Petraeus and McChrystal, has culminated, inexorably, with faux "reconciliation," i.e., capitulation to an unabashed jihadist movement, the Taliban. In brief, the Taliban has now openly rejected (at least in Urdu!) the US reconciliation offer, and is preparing to create what will assuredly be an even more draconian sharia state in Afghanistan. The depressing, if predictable summary details from MEMRI: Following their trilateral meeting in Islamabad on April 27, 2012, officials from the United States, Afghanistan, and Pakistan announced that they would offer "safe passage" to Afghan Taliban who are willing to discuss reconciliation. Addressing a joint news conference in Islamabad, U.S. Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Marc Grossman, Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani, and Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Jawed Ludin said they would form a group of experts to consider the proposal.
