In Praise of Newt

Newt blew the Occupy Wall Street dog whistle and the left is now howling his praise.  The Huffington Post cheers Newt for joining the OWS cause; "Occupy Wall Street Overwhelms the Republicans: Newt Enrolls in OWS"

"It seems that Occupy Wall Street has just landed in the middle of the New Hampshire primary, with the same kind of lasting impact it's having everywhere. Apparently leading Republicans are willing to speak publicly about income inequality and the Wall St 1%ers. No longer are Republicans allowed to pretend that the real problem is the shackles we've put on Donald Trump, Enron and Bank of America.

Are you with the 99% or with the 1%? Leave it to the very smart Newt Gingrich to find the hole in the Romney facade and drive a truck through it."

 "You have to ask the question, is capitalism really about the ability of a handful of rich people to manipulate the lives of thousands of people and then walk off with the money?"

Who said it - Elizabeth Warren? Dennis Kucinich? Noam Chomsky?

Not quite, that was Newt Gingrich talking to reporters at an energy company in Manchester on Monday about his new effort to paint Mitt Romney as a greedy one-percenter who finds "clever legal ways" to go about "looting a company" while screwing over its workers.

Even the ever astonished Arianna Huffington herself asks "Can you imagine that kind of language being used by Republicans a year ago?"

Wow Newt!  I guess any publicity is good publicity, eh?  You really "stuck it to the man" Newt!  Just like Jack Kemp would do, right? Newt rolled up his happy warrior sleeves and set up his OWS tent to mindlessly dismantle the "establishment."  Great job Newt!  What's next Newt, defecating on a South Carolina police car? 

Do you remember the good old days when the left accused Newt of "blowing a dog whistle" to excite the GOP base?  Remember when Newt would woo us conservatives and whisper "sweet nothings" into our ears?  Newt is now giving rabid circus elephants going rouge a bad name.  Thanks a lot Newt. If the GOP electorate were voting for "Dog Whisperer" Newt would finish behind Michael Vick.
