Joe Frazier is to George W. Bush as Mohamed Ali is to Barack Obama

David Lawrence
Joe Frazier is to George Bush as Mohamed Ali is to Barack Obama.  Joe Frazier was blue collar, earnest, honest and came to fight.  Ali used the fight arena as a platform to show off his ideas.  Ideas?  The man barely made it through high school and had an IQ of 78.  Frazier had no pretensions, never tried to show off verbally and was what he was.

Bush just tried to give his earnest opinions about things and worked within the framework of the country to better it.  Obama contradicts all American values while he tries to derive nimble, gymnastic wit from his teleprompter.  He is the knight of reader's theatre.

Bush like Frazier hooked and went for the body. He was brave enough to bang it out. He took as well as he gave.

Obama is cowardly and throws long distance shots at the head.  He doesn't want to mix it up. He sends his drones in.  In the Chicago Senate he always voted "present" because he was afraid to take positions, not even on partial birth abortions.  He doesn't trade punches.  He peeks and pokes at you.

Frazier and Bush are not articulate.  Good.  They can't trick you with verbal razzamatazz. They are not male strippers.  They are decent working class husbands.  They are reliable. They feed their public well. You'd want to share a good steak with Joe Frazier.

Obama is all flash.  He is like a Chippendale's stripper who wants to attract you with his speechifying but doesn't have a clue of how to improve the world.  He offers you appetizers but no main course.  You leave the table hungry.  Everything is said but nothing of substance has been fed. Obama is floating over the picnic table like a butterfly.  Because of his lack of American values, he will sting you in the back like a bee while you're snacking on potato salad.

Obama has Ali's flash without his skills.  His braggadocio and negativity will one day consign him to the bottom of the list of Presidents. Some historians already rate him below Jimmy Carter. When he was elected he was called a rock star. He is about to be a one term wonder.

Bush will be way above Obama on the list of good presidents.  Frazier will be simply remembered as a solid, workman like fighter. Ali may still fare well on the hit parade but unlike Obama he didn't bankrupt a country and turn its values upside down. Ali could still fight.  Obama can only read what other people write.
