March 20, 2011 Socialists protest against Obama in Rio
I am one of those contrarians who doesn't believe Obama is much of a socialist. A far left liberal whose agenda reflects the thinking of the Democratic party for the last 30 years - yes. But to my mind, the fact that the real McCoy socialists in Brazil think our president is a stinking Yankee capitalist sort of proves my point.
Forbes: A molotov cocktail was launched in front of the US consulate in Rio de Janeiro late Friday in protest of the arrival of President Barack Obama, the O Globo newspaper in Rio reported. Military police reacted by firing rubber bullets into the gathering of 200 at around 18:30 local time. A CBN news reporter suffered a minor injury from the shots and traffic was blocked. Obama's outdoor speech in Rio was moved indoors when it was thought that the security situation would be dicey. An ironic twist to the protests:
Hard to imagine anyone thinking Obama isn't far left enough but there you have it. |
