February 6, 2011 Hillary and the Muslim BrotherhoodWhy would a proto-feminist Secretary of State be silent on the very real potential of a patriarchal Islamist system like the Muslim Brotherhood gaining power in Egypt? Hillary Clinton's deafening silence in full view of her boss's Muslim sympathies as well as her own complicity in dialoguing with those who wish to subjugate women worldwide has left even die-hard Hillary supporters baffled and disgusted. From Reverend Amy at noquarterusa:
It's simple really, she must agree with her boss despite the ‘woman's progress is human progress' rhetoric she spouts at the U.N. The subjugation of women is fine as long as it serves the administration's political ends. Remember President Obama's 2009 Cairo speech where he promised the U.S. would defend Islamic religious teachings:
In the same month the President spoke those words, the State Department set up an office for outreach to the Muslim Communities. Farah Pandith reported directly to Clinton who would "seek a new beginning with Muslims around the world." Did that include the Muslim Brotherhood determined to impose Sharia law around the world? Honor killings and harsh punishments for women emanate from the same law as the hijab. This from Pamela Geller:
Clinton is nothing more than an Obama knock-off in her alliance with Islamic groups. Instead of specifically denouncing the Muslim Brotherhood and any other sect that adheres to laws promoting the maiming and killing of girls, the former Senator is silent. Rather, she should refer her disillusioned supporter, Reverend Amy, to one of the many ‘it takes a village' speeches she has been asked to give over the years. In light of her recent stance on the Egyptian crisis, oppressed women under Islamist regimes definitely do not have an ally in Hillary Clinton.
