Iranian Bushehr reactor deadline looms
It is summer, and almost everyone I know is on vacation and people on vacation do not take the news seriously. They should. On August 21 Russia plans to load nuclear fuel rods into the Iranian reactor at Bushehr. John Bolton had this to say: Once the fuel rods are loaded, Bolton told Fox News on Friday afternoon, "it makes it essentially immune from attack by Israel. Because once the rods are in the reactor an attack on the reactor risks spreading radiation in the air, and perhaps into the water of the Persian Gulf." Let us remind ourselves what the stakes are.
