August 14, 2010 Iranian Bushehr reactor deadline looms
It is summer, and almost everyone I know is on vacation and people on vacation do not take the news seriously. They should. On August 21 Russia plans to load nuclear fuel rods into the Iranian reactor at Bushehr.
John Bolton had this to say: Once the fuel rods are loaded, Bolton told Fox News on Friday afternoon, "it makes it essentially immune from attack by Israel. Because once the rods are in the reactor an attack on the reactor risks spreading radiation in the air, and perhaps into the water of the Persian Gulf." Let us remind ourselves what the stakes are. Reza Kahlili, the CIA agent who for years risked his life as an American spy among the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, on July 9 gave a presentation at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy in front of hundred of members of the press and government officials, and said this: Let me tell you, and this is my opinion, just like anybody out there, the difference is, I slept in the same bunkers, I was preached the same sermon, I went to the warfront, and I know how they feel. His comments on sanctions: Sanctions is a fantasy, is an illusion. Change of behavior? You‘re dreaming! Stop dreaming, please! There is not going to be a change of behavior. You are not dealing with rational people. They take it literally from the Quran. And Quran says that those who oppose you , your enemy, are among the idiots and stupid , this is what they think of you. Every time you provide an extended hand, they do not see it as honest approach, out of sincerity, out of a wish to come to a peaceful resolution, they see it as stupidity. For some reason his message is still not getting the coverage it deserves. Most of the journalists will one day have to explain why they have ignored it. |
