Lib columnist notices we don't know much about Obama

Richard Cohen, liberal columnist for the Washington Post, has suddenly realized that we know very little about Barack Obama, and that's kind of unsettling. This admission is buried 389 words into an op-ed today ostensibly on John Edwards.

This column is a curious entity. There is no mea culpa expressed, but there is an implicit admission that the press has not done its job.

Still, I suppose it is progress of a sort. The press aided and abetted the selling of an unvetted, inexperienced newcomer. Now that he turns out to be incompetent, it is time to cover the tracks.
