The Jewish Resistance

The number of Jews around the world who do not grasp the danger in their midst is a topic oft-written about here at AT and other conservative media venues. It is always disheartening, discouraging, and troubling to be reminded about this dire situation.

But what of those Jews who are aware of the dangers that exist - dangers that threaten Jews everywhere? This group of righteous, self-respecting Jews should not get lost in the discourse.

Jews must join together as Resistance fighters. This means speaking out each and every day in the battle against encroaching anti-Semitism that threatens us. Form a group at your temple, write, speak up in everyday conversations, have one or two seminal articles on hand to give others to highlight your point, develop succinct talking points, draw analogies, get involved with a book club and suggest one or two books, light a fire under like-minded folks who are not politically active. And we must be willing to lose friends, to have relationships with neighbors strained, and so forth. If we are not willing to do this, we are supporting the status quo through our silence.

We must turn, turn, turn this ship around and we can only do it through a collective effort that seeks to expand our numbers.

I was once a knee-jerk, lifelong Democrat, liberal Jew. But I and several others Jews I know did a complete 180 degree shift a couple of years ago. It can be done. All it takes is a small spark to ignite. I now consider it my mission to light that spark in others and invite all Jews who "get it" to step up to the plate and enlighten at least one lost Jew who is wandering in the desert.

We can do nothing less.

Whether we succeed remains to be seen. But I, for one, do not want to find myself at a modern-day Masada facing the impossible.

As I walk this path of resistance, I want to thank every righteous Christian who stands with Israel. Merry Christmas to you all.
