The DoD has released a statement that a US soldier has been captured in Afghanistan. Although this report says "soldier", it is more likely it is actually a Marine given that is who is currently conducting a major push in Afghanistan.
There have only been a handful of US servicemen captured by insurgents in Afghanistan and Iraq since 2001 and none have made it out alive. I hope this time it will be different.
Somehow I imagine this poor fellow would welcome "torture" consisting of standing in a cold cave, wearing a hijab and listening to blaring traditional Afghani music while watching his captors defecate on a bible. Will the Red Crescent will get right on this and make sure the captive's treatment rises to international standards?
